Hi!

The idea that students are blank minds waiting to be "filled with knowledge" by the teacher does not work for me. I believe students come in with existing ideas from home, previous school experiences, friends, their own observations and interactions in the world, etc. and teachers play an important role in helping students take those initial ideas and turn them into questions so they can investigate, gather information, and learn. Learning is active, not passive--I see my job as helping
